Starch Slurry

Starch is a carbohydrate typically synthesized in corn, wheat, and other plants. In paper making starch is used as a wet end additive to provide internal strength, as a surface sizing material, and a binder in coating formulations. Starch slurries are a suspension of insoluble material in water. Starch slurries can become dilatent where the material of the slurry becomes solid-like when subjected to shear force. Once dilatention occurs solids settle out of suspension very quickly if the slurry ever stops its constant motion. Moyno progressing cavity pumps are used in variety of starch slurry transfer applications due to their shear sensitive and low-pulsating flow capabilities.

The Moyno 1000 and 2000 pumps can be effectively utilized for this application.
